BSA Troop 54 ("we," "our," or "us") operates the website at troop3054.org. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. We keep it short because we believe privacy policies should be readable.
What We Collect
Contact Form
When you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message. This information is processed by Formspree, a third-party form service, and forwarded to our Committee Chair via email. We use this information only to respond to your inquiry.
Registration
When you register a Scout, you are redirected to my.scouting.org, which is operated by Scouting America. We do not collect or process any registration data on our website. Scouting America's privacy policy governs that information.
Third-Party Services
Our website uses the following third-party services that may collect limited data:
- GitHub Pages — Hosts our website. GitHub may collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited). See GitHub's privacy statement.
- Google Fonts — Provides the typefaces used on our site. When you visit a page, your browser downloads fonts from Google's servers. See Google's privacy policy.
- YouTube — We embed a video on our Join page using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, which limits tracking. See Google's privacy policy.
- Formspree — Processes contact form submissions. See Formspree's privacy policy.

What We Don't Do

Photos & Media
Photos on this website show Scouts participating in troop activities. In accordance with Scouting America's youth protection guidelines:
- We do not publish Scouts' full names alongside photos without parental consent
- Photos depict Scouts in appropriate Scouting activities only
- Parents may request removal of their child's photo at any time by contacting us
Children's Privacy
Our website is designed to provide information to families about our Scouting program. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through this website. Scout registration is handled entirely through Scouting America's official portal, which has its own privacy protections. Our troop follows all Scouting America Youth Protection policies.
Your Choices
You can visit our website without submitting any personal information. If you've contacted us and would like your information removed, email us at william.mau@gmail.com and we'll delete it promptly.
Changes
If we update this policy, we'll revise the "last updated" date at the top. For a volunteer Scout troop website, changes will be rare.
